Max Evans, age 86, of Ellenboro, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, September 18, 2020 while being surrounded by his loving family.
Max was born May 13, 1934 in Cleveland County to the late Elmer Gaston Evans and Beulah Estelle Church Evans. He worked for Stonecutter Mill for thirty-four years before his retirement and was a faithful member of Caroleen Congregational Holiness. He served as a deacon and enjoyed working on cars and was an avid fisherman. Max loved his family and especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren with all of his heart.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-seven years, Lorene “Rene” Evans; daughter, Bobbie Evans Neal; son, Kim Evans; three grandchildren, Kimberly Whiteside, Dusty Whiteside and Reverend Anthony Van Dyke; two great-grandchildren, Michael and Hayden Arrowood; four brothers, Bill Church, Thurman Evans, Ralph Evans and Jr. Evans.
Those left to cherish his memory include three daughters, Wanda Grant (Alan) of Ellenboro, Rita Whiteside (Tim) of Ellenboro and Penny Floyd (Jeff) of Spartanburg, SC; two sons, Jimmy Evans (Lacy) and Tim Evans (Donna) all of Ellenboro and a brother, Charles Evans (Dawn) of Ellenboro. He is also survived by nineteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday, September 21, 2020 at the Caroleen Congregational Holiness Church with his son, Tim Evans and son-in-law, Tim Whiteside officiating.
