Melva Canipe

Melva Henson Canipe, age 86, of Rutherfordton, NC died Friday, March 27, 2009 at Restwell Home.
A native of Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late William and Ida Henson. She was a homemaker who especially enjoyed growing flowers. She was also a longtime member of Harris First Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Baxter Canipe; two daughters, Louise Padgett and Rachel Canipe; two brothers, Nathaniel Henson and Lee Henson and one sister, Thelma Harvey.
Survivors include six daughters, Hazel Dills and her husband, Fred of Rock Hill, SC, Betty Roberson and her husband, Bill of Summerton, SC, Pauline Padgett of Rutherfordton, Marie Atkins of Forest City, Janet Faye Lowery and her husband, Jim of Rutherfordton and Kathy Hoyle and her husband, Michael also of Rutherfordton; three sons, Virgil Canipe and his wife, Joyce of Manning, NC, Steve Canipe of Forest City and David Canipe and his wife, Teresa of Chesnee, SC; one brother, Rector Henson of Mountain City, TN; 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
