Michael “Dewitt” Ledbetter, age 70, of Wilson Drive, Forest City, passed away April 11, 2020 at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville.
Michael was born April 11, 1950 in Rutherford County to the late Dewitt “Bud” Ledbetter and Betty Kennedy Ledbetter. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served his country honorably in the U.S. Army, 9th Infantry Division. He worked in construction for several years and was a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. Michael was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and Go-kart racing. He was a member of Wilson Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandparents, Thurman and Lou Kennedy.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of almost fifty-years, Elizabeth “Lib” Ledbetter; daughter, Christy Cooper of Spindale and son, Michael Ledbetter of Forest City; sister, Debra Greene (Harold) of Forest City; three brothers, Doug Ledbetter of Bostic, Scott Ledbetter (Brenda) of Forest City and Todd Ledbetter (Ginger) of Forest City; three grandsons, Christopher Owens (Samantha), Cody Adair (Summer), Nick Adair and a great-granddaughter, Layla Rose Adair. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews which includes special nephews, Todd Ledbetter and Brandon Ledbetter.
A private service to honor Michael’s life with be conducted with Reverend Glenn Walker officiating. Military honors will be presented by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. Burial will follow in Alexander Cemetery.
