Nancy Childers

Nancy Childers, age 72, of Forest City, passed away Friday, May 13, 2022 at Cedar Creek Assisted Living in Forest City.

Nancy was born Thursday, January 26, 1950 in Rutherford County to the late George Greene and Willie Mae Grice Greene. She was a graduate of East Rutherford High School, class of 1968. Nancy worked in textiles for many years and later as a CNA for Autumn Care. She was a longtime member of the Moose Lodge #2422 where she served in many leadership roles. She enjoyed playing bingo, traveling, shopping, bowling and playing softball. Nancy attended Cooper Springs Congregational Holiness Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Vernon Greene; sister, Annie Pearl Cole and three nephews, Jermy Cole, Josh Cole and Benny Cole.

Left to cherish fond memories are her daughter, Shannon Childers (Rod Lopez) of Palm Springs, California; granddaughter, Victoria Ashley Childers-Lopez of Palms Springs, CA; five nephews, Bobby Greene, Michael Greene, Tommy Greene, Mark Cole, Blake Cole; nieces, Susie Cole and Ashley Cole; great nephews, Michael Lee Greene, Cody Greene, Dillon Greene and a great-niece, Paige Cole.

The funeral service will be conducted at 6:00 pm on Friday, May 20, 2022 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Allen Terry and Reverend Randy Church officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

Memorial donations are requested to the House of Deliverance.
