Nancy Ensley Turner, age 80, of Caroleen, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Born February 21, 1936 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter to the late Frank "Dutch" Ensley and Ozelle Smith Ensley. She was a graduate of Tri-High School, class of 1955 and a graduate of Shelby Beauty School. Nancy worked in textiles and as a beautician/cosmetologist, owning her own beauty shop, for many years. She and her husband, Herman, owned and operated the Little Moo Restaurant at the Tri-City Mall for several years. Nancy was a people person who loved having a good time. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed going on trips with tour groups and discovering new types of food. She was a member of Sisk Memorial Missionary Methodist Church and taught Sunday School for many years for various churches. Nancy was very active as a parent and served as the president of the PTA and as a Brownie Scout Leader.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of sixty-two years, Herman D. Turner; a daughter, Meloney Turner Overcash and husband, Thad of Rutherfordton; brother, Monroe Ensley and wife, Midgie of Cliffside; niece, Melissa Ensley Cantrell and husband, Michael of Forest City; nephew, Mitchell Ensley and wife, Mitzi of Cliffside and a number of loving family members and friends.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Mike Elgin officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior the service time at the funeral home.
