Nell Horton

Nell Horton, age 86, of Forest City, passed away Friday, March 26, 2021 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.

Nell was born Saturday, May 19, 1934 in Rutherford County to the late Lona Mae Lowery. She was a graduate of Tri-High School and a faithful and active member of Harris First Baptist Church. Nell worked many years for Parker Hannifin until her retirement. She enjoyed cooking for her family and loved her family dearly. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, A.W. Horton; brother, Bill Harris and a sister, Brenda Costner.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son Alan Horton (Jodi) of Inman, SC; daughter, Crystal Giarmo (Rick) of Whiting, New Jersey; two grandchildren, Kylie Horton and Alan Horton II; sister, Madge Eure of Fuquay-Varina, NC and a special niece, Donna Blackwood (Gary) of Shelby.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Monday, March 29, 2021 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend George Whitmire, Reverend Bob Philbeck and Reverend Arthur Yount officiating.  Interment will follow at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Sunday at the funeral home.
