Nellie Stafford

Nellie 'Granny' Stafford, age 91, of Henson Road, Forest City, NC, died Thursday, August 23, 2012 at her residence.
Nellie was born August 28, 1920 in East Flat Rock, NC to the late Melvin Cox and Annie Mae Collins Cox. She was a homemaker and was involved with various kinds of farming. She enjoyed fishing and loved people.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Stafford; five children, May Dale, Wilburn Stafford, Walt Cox Jr., Lillian Stafford and Thomas Joe Stafford.
Survivors include five sons, Dave Cox and wife, Violet of Bostic, Jerry Cox of Henrietta, Leroy Cox and wife, Mary of Forest City, Ray Stafford and wife, Cindy of Morganton and Marvin Stafford and wife, Jackie of Forest City. She is also survived by twenty-five grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Clayton Hartswell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
