Newell Vess

Newell Jones Vess, age 84, of Forest City, NC, died Friday, July 5, 2013 at Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Newell was born October 12, 1928 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Flay C. Jones and Etta McDaniel Jones Wright. She retired from Celanese Fabrics and she was a Hospice volunteer for many years. She loved her family and giving her time to care for others. She was truly a servant and also a long time member of Caroleen Baptist Church. She was recently attending Drury Dobbins Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband Lee Roy Vess, Jr., and two brothers Harold Jones and Tommy Wright.
Survivors include husband, Dwight Cooper, one daughter, Diane Fisher and husband, Bill, of Forest City; three sons, Wayne Vess and wife, Rita, of Forest City, Ardie Vess and wife, Judy, of Ellenboro, Keith Vess and wife, Roxie, of Shelby; a stepdaughter Diane Cooper Durant and husband, Dennis, of Shelby, one brother, Max Jones of Ellenboro. She is also survived by grandchildren: Sharla Migala and husband David, Andy Ledford, Steve Ledford, Rob Vess and wife Janie, Erin Vess Baker and husband Keith, Nikki Vess McCree, Jerry Vess and wife Dana, Terri Toney and husband Larry, Mindy Hoyle and husband Richard, Melissa Gilsoul, and Marisha Stainback.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 8, 2013 at Caroleen Baptist Church with the Reverend Alan Hall and Reverend Chris Hensley officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services.
