Norman Allan Parris, age 72, of Rutherfordton, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at his residence.
Norman was born Wednesday, July 28, 1948 in Polk County, NC to the late Sidney W. Parris and Lula “Ruby” Taylor Parris. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served honorably during the Vietnam War. Norman worked as an Assistant Superintendent over the Maintenance Department at the Spindale Public Works for thirty years before retirement. He loved farming and raising livestock. Norman loved animals and enjoyed the outdoors and traveling. He was a member of Spencer Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Joseph Roach and sister-in-law, Wanda Roach.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of thirty years, Sandra Roach Parris; aunt, Betty T. Luther of Columbus, NC; brothers-in-law, Randy Roach (Janet) and Johnny Roach all of Rutherfordton and sister-in-law, Brenda McFarland (Danny) of Forest City. He is also survived by many close nieces and nephews who loved him dearly and was affectionately called “Poppi” by his great nieces and nephews and by a host of cousins.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 pm on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Harrelson Funeral Home. A private burial will take place at Green River Baptist Church Cemetery.
