Ola Hunt Willis, age 94, formerly of Forest City, died Thursday, November 20, 2008 at Crawley Memorial Hospital in Boiling Springs, NC after an extended illness.
A native of Rutherford County, she was a daughter to the late W.L. Hunt and Texie Daves Hunt. She was an educator at various Rutherford County Schools for 41 years before her retirement, teaching at the Alexander School, Caroleen and Tri-Community Schools. She was a graduate of Asheville Teacher's College and Appalachian State College. Her students knew her as a dedicated teacher who would always go the extra mile for her students, often providing lunches and clothing for her pupils. She loved to garden and enjoyed arts & crafts. She was a faithful member of Caroleen Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Worth Willis; two brothers, Flay Hunt and Forrest Hunt both of Forest City and a grandson, Eric Willis of West Virginia.
Survivors include two sons, Charlie Willis and his wife Elaine of Wilmington, NC and Bill Willis and his wife Myra of Shelby, NC; three grandchildren, Chad Willis, Ryan Willis and Ashley Willis; one sister Ethel Hunt Robbins of Forest City.
