Ollie Mcdaniel

April 14, 1941 — July 12, 2017

Ollie "Gene" McDaniel, age 76, of Forest City, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Born April 14, 1941 in Newberry, SC, he was a son of the late Ollie Theodore McDaniel and Willie Mae Brazell McDaniel. Ollie worked for Stonecutter Mill for most of his life and was a member of the First Wesleyan Church of Forest City. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed squirrel hunting. Ollie especially loved meeting with his buddies at the Kwik Mart on Oakland Road twice a day, where they were unofficially called the "Coffee Club."
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death two wives, Joan Johnston McDaniel and Shirley T. McDaniel and two brothers, Paul Theodore McDaniel and Billy Gene McDaniel.
Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Anita Collins Robinson and husband Wesley of Lawndale and Loretta McDaniel of Florida; one son, Ollie Eugene McDaniel, Jr. of Henrietta; three sisters, Shirley Philbeck and husband, Kenneth of Forest City, Martha Manuel also of Forest City and Anita Walker and husband, Dennis of Bostic. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Eric Yelton officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
