Paul L. 'Punk' Holland, age 85, of 125 School Drive, Forest City, NC, died Friday, April 24, 2009 at White Oak Manor of Shelby.
A native of Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Leander Austin Holland and Nettie Sue Hensley Holland. Paul served his country in the U.S. Navy and worked for Fieldcrest Mills for 44 years until his retirement. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, Braves baseball, the Tar Heels and coached little league baseball.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one step-son, Melvin Hamrick, three brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include his wife Evelyn Whisnant Holland of 61 years; daughter, Donna McSwain and husband Hank of Lincolnton, NC; son, Paul Keith Holland and wife Donna of Forest City; three grandchildren, David McSwain, Christie Ingle and Brandy Sisk; four great-grandchildren, Joshua McSwain, Lydia McSwain, Lillian Sisk, Kelsey Ingle and three nephews.
