Paul B. Kersey, age 92, of Ellenboro, NC, died Saturday, November 23, 2013 at his residence.
Born April 4, 1921 in Fayette County, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Homer Boyd Kersey and Lena Marie McDaniel Kersey. Paul was a US Army veteran who served in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a faithful member of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church and also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He worked for DuPont Industries for many years before his retirement and took great pride in doing yard work.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of almost sixty-eight years, Elizabeth Walker Kersey; two sisters, Mary D. Dunlap and Taffetta A. Schnell and by three brothers.
Survivors include two sons, Fr. Paul B. Kersey and John D. Kersey and his wife, Ethel Vina all of Honduras; two daughters, Donna M. Kersey of Rutherfordton and Mary C. Rappold of West Virginia; brother, Ray Kersey of Rutherfordton. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be conducted at noon on Friday, November 29, 2013 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Fr. Paul Kersey, Jr. and Rev. Deacon Andy Cilone officiating. Interment will follow in Eternal Hills Cemetery with military honors being accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. A family visitation and viewing will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the Narthex of the Church.
