Peggy Joan Hardin, age 81, of Eastside Drive, Forest City, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County with her loving family at her side.
Peggy was the daughter of the late Dewey Leonard Hardin and Annie Haulk Hardin. She was the first New Year's baby born in Rutherford County, being born on January 2, 1936. Peggy was a lifelong resident of Rutherford County and a loyal and faithful member of the First Wesleyan Church of Forest City. She was a member of the adult choir for sixty years and tithing secretary for many years. She also served as secretary of the Joyce Walker Sunday School Class and the Wesleyan Women for over twenty years. Peggy was also instrumental in the formation of the CYC program at the church and was a member of the Altar Guild. She will be greatly missed by her family and her church family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald A. Hardin and Rev. Howard Hardin and a sister, Frances Brantley.
Those left to cherish her memory include three brothers, Hubert Hardin and wife, Jean, Mickey Hardin and wife, Linda and Tim Hardin all of Forest City; three sisters, Dorothy DeBrule and husband, Dever, Helen Davis and Susie Hardin all of Forest City. She is also survived by a number of loving nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 27, 2017 at the First Wesleyan Church of Forest City with Reverend Eric Yelton officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time at the church. Interment will follow in Cool Springs Cemetery.
