Peggy L. Radford, age 73, of Forest City, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016 at her home.
Born June 30, 1942 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter to the late Ralph Smith and Thelma Ball Smith. She worked at Burlington Industries-Caroleen Plant for thirty-five years and Cone Mills-Avondale Plant for several years before retirement. Peggy was a faithful member of Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir. She enjoyed reading her Bible and loved spending time with all of her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, Billy Gene Radford and daughter-in-law, Tina Radford.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Johnson and husband, Terry of Mooresboro and Mary Phillips and husband, Tim of Forest City; two sons, Ricky Radford of Kings Mountain and David Radford and wife, Ellen of Cliffside; one brother, Jamie Smith and sister, Polly Bradshaw both of Forest City. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Billy Poe Jones and Reverend Robert Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. The body will lie in state from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
