Pletz Oscar Johnston

Pletz Oscar Johnston, age 73, of Henrietta, passed away Monday, July 25, 2022 at Atrium Health Cleveland Pines in Shelby.

Pletz was born Tuesday, May 3, 1949 in Logan County, West Virginia to the late David Ruffis Johnston, Sr. and Freda Mae Foust Johnston.  He worked for Spindale Mills for over thirty years before retirement. Pletz enjoyed gardening, working outside in his yard and working on cars. He was always busy doing something. Pletz especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte Cora Hatfield and a daughter, Angie Kiser.

Left to cherish fond memories are his life partner, Sheila Huckabee; daughters, Kay Kiser, Christine Kiser and a special niece, Margie Sheppard, whom he considered as a daughter; eight grandchildren and one great grandkid.  He is also survived by brothers, David Ruffis Johnston, Jr. and James Johnston (Sandra) all of Bruno, West Virginia, Roy Rodger Johnston (Lois) of Henrietta; sisters, Virgie Stanley of Forest City and Violet Lorena Campbell (Donald) of Henrietta and a brother-in-law, Lionel Hatfield; along with multiple nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Friday, July 29, 2022 at the Faith Praise and Worship Ministries in Forest City with Bishop Mark E. Lattimore officiating. Interment will follow at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
