Rafford Childers

Rafford 'Rabbit' Childers, age 79, of Poors Ford Road, Rutherfordton, NC, died Friday, March 2, 2012 at Hospice House.
Rafford was born October 13, 1932 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Paul B. Childers and Bertha McEntire Childers. He served in the US Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. Rafford was an avid sports fan who enjoyed Atlanta Braves baseball and North Carolina Tar Heels basketball. He worked as a loom fixer for Burlington Industries for many years and was a Methodist.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Huntley and three brothers, Donnie Childers, Jerry Childers and Dean Childers.
Survivors include his brother, Jimmy Childers and wife, Ruby of Forest City; two sister in-laws, Terry Childers of Marion and Ramona Kindschi of Forest City and several nieces and nephews.
