Randy “Woody” Kennedy Yelton, age 53, of Ellenboro, passed away Monday, February 24, 2020 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
Randy was born May 28, 1966 in Rutherford County to Martha Ann Kennedy who resides in Ellenboro and to the late Gilbert Clyde Yelton. He was a graduate of R-S Central, class or 1984 and a 1990 graduate of Appalachian State University. He earned his teaching degree and had a lifelong passion for teaching elementary children. He taught in Georgia and loved his students. In his later years, he began a career in advertising and was the owner and operator of Eye Catchers Marketing. He served as the manager of Flea Town USA located in Forest City. He was always willing to lend a hand to help others and invested his life in serving others. He truly had a heart of gold! Randy had accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was a faithful member of “The Church” at Flea Town USA.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clyde and Betty Yelton of Spindale and Harold and Rose Kennedy of Caroleen.
Besides his mother, those left to cherish his memory include a sister, Tina Yelton and brother, Wayne Yelton both of Mooresboro. He is also survived by ten nephews and nieces whom he loved very much.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Co-Pastors Jeff and Angel West officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
