Ray Mode

Ray Mode, age 83, of Forest City, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.

Ray was born Wednesday, May 22, 1940 in Rutherford County to the late Thomas Riley Mode and Fannie Elizabeth Rome Mode. He worked for Stonecutter Mill for twenty-three years and was the assistant pastor of the Forest City Assembly of God church for ten years. Ray enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, but especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He loved the Lord and was a dedicated husband, father, brother and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of fifty years, Colleen Grant Mode; son, Ronnie Ray Mode and a brother, Wallace Mode.

Left to treasure his memory are his two daughters, Arlene Taylor (Sandra) of Ellenboro and Sheila Bradley (Dennis) of Caroleen; brother, Steve Mode (Margaret) of Forest City; sister, Diane Scruggs (Hoyle) of Ellenboro; six grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, September 27^th at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Danny Bumgarner officiating. Interment will follow at Shingle Hollow Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
