Emblem

Reba Robbins Lowe, Age 101, went home to be with her heavenly father on July 9, 2020.

She was born January 23, 1919 in Caroleen, North Carolina to James Madison Robbins and Mary Allie Branch. She was a faithful member of Caroleen Baptist Church.

She married her childhood sweetheart, Marion Leonard Lowe, who proceeded her in death in June of 2009.

Reba grew up with six sisters and two brothers. She worked for a short time at Caroleen Mill. Later, she was the secretary at the District Attorney's Office where her supervisor was her best friend and husband, Leonard Lowe.

She and Leonard set up housekeeping in a garage apartment above the furniture store they owned and operated called Lowes Furniture Store in Caroleen.

Reba loved her family and visited her mom and dad about every day. She enjoyed her church family and helped young students at Gardner-Webb University with encouraging letters and financial assistance.

She was a bright light for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and other children in the neighborhood that needed some motherly love and attention.

Reba had a love for reading. She was well known at the local library for reading 4-5 novels per week.

Reba was very adventurous and loved to travel. She traveled throughout the United States and to many countries.

Reba is survived by her younger sister, Frances Jolley of Chesnee, SC; daughter DiAnne Guffey of Forest City; son Stephen Lowe and wife Merry of Jonesville, NC; daughter Karen Moore and husband Butch of Forest City, NC; seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

We want to thank all of Reba’s special caregivers as well as the Hospice staff for treating her with such patience, grace, kindness, and love.

A private graveside service will be held at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery with Reverend Dr. Bobby Gantt and Reverend Lanny J. Funchess officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Caroleen Baptist Church, Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, or Meals on Wheels of Rutherford County.
