Reggie Dean Smith, age 63, of Rutherfordton, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2024 at his residence.
Reggie was born on Friday, December 30, 1960 in Rutherford County. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and was a part of the Brotherhood where he often showcased his great sense of humor. Over the years he worked in textiles as a weaver and in automobile repair at Whitener’s Body Shop. He could often be found at the dirt track, both as a racer and as a supporter of his wife and other family members who raced. Reggie loved watching sports and supporting his favorite teams, the Dallas Cowboys, the Carolina Tarheels, and the Atlanta Braves.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Lepage.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of thirty-three years, Kim Byers Smith, of the home; his father, Harold Smith (Nancy), of Dobbinsville; children, Crystal Morgan (Gary), of Forest City, Kevin Smith, of Idaho, Shasta Morgan (Monroe), of Boiling Springs, Bryan Morgan (Kayla), of Mooresboro, and Steven Smith (Heather), of Avery County, NC; siblings, Teresa Smith, of Ruth, Ronnie Smith, of Marion, Sherry Smith (Roger), of Ellenboro, Debbie Crowe (Dan), of Ohio, and Barbie Rich, of Mooresboro; step-father, Richard Lepage, of Mooresboro; and seventeen grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 18th, at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Todd Westfall officiating. The family will receive friends for an hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
