Reverend Robert "Bobby" Rape, Sr., age 70, of Rutherfordton, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017 at his residence.
Born August 2, 1946 in Lincoln County, Georgia, he was a son to the late Robert N. Rape and Mildred Hawes Rape. Bobby worked for Georgia Power for many years until entering the ministry. He pastored several local churches which included Shingle Hollow Congregational Holiness Church, Sulphur Springs Congregational Holiness Church and the Jesus Way Center. He was a faithful minister of the gospel for almost thirty years. Bobby also enjoyed gardening and farming. His favorite past time was helping to take care of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was known by them as "Papaw." Bobby was dedicated to his Lord and to his family.
Those left to cherish his memory includes his wife of fifty-years, Gale Tippens Rape; two daughters, Lynn Rape and Linda Addington both of Rutherfordton, one son, Robert Rape, Jr and wife, Tamara of Forest City; two sisters, Patsy Hall and husband, Dr. David Hall of Thompson, Georgia and Mickey Ingram and husband, Freddie of Lincolnton, Georgia. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Matthew Fenner, Mason Fenner, Madison Fenner, Joshua Forrest and Miranda Rape; two great-grandchildren, Khloee Caldwell and Blakely Forrest.
The memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Danny McCain and Reverend Ronnie Tippens officiating. Interment will be private at Sulphur Springs Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
