Bob Sellers, age 85 of Forest City, passed away Monday, August 23, 2021 at Atrium Health-Cleveland in Shelby.
Bob was born Tuesday, December 10, 1935 in Cleveland County to the late William Owen Sellers and Josephine McDaniel Sellers. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Bob worked as a mechanic for L.C. Cook Chevrolet Dealership and as an iron worker for Beaumont-Birch Company of New Jersey for many years before his retirement. He was a member of Caroleen Baptist Church and recently attended Adaville Baptist Church. Bob enjoyed cooking, gardening and woodworking. He was a handyman who could fix almost everything. He was a good man and always helped others. Bob will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-eight years, Martha Jean Sellers; son-in-law, Bill Thomassen; brother, Donald Sellers and sister, Jean Manley.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Rita Byers of Landrum, SC, Nita Roberts of Cowpens, SC and Tammy Thomassen of Forest City; sister, Syble Burton (Keith) of Belmont, NC, grandchildren, Shawna Humphries, Jason Byers (Audrey) of Wiesbaden, Germany, Fred “Tripp” B. James III, Robbie Blanton and Johnathon Horn (Yurona Pillay); eight greatgrandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 10, 2021 at Adaville Baptist Church with Reverend Jeff Pate and Reverend Jeff Watts officiating.
A private graveside service with military honors will be conducted at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
