Roger Moore, age 75, of Charlotte, formerly of Raleigh, died Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at his residence.
Born November 18, 1939 in Rutherford County, he was the only son of the late Talmos Dee Moore and Louise Norman Moore. He was a graduate of Ellenboro High School, class of 1957 and earned a Masters Degree from Appalachian State University in math and science. He worked for IBM for thirty years before his retirement. While working at IBM, he was instrumental in implementing the bar code readers on cash registers and was involved with the NASA Apollo Space Program. Roger was a member of the Highland United Methodist Church of Raleigh. He and his wife, Barbara, enjoyed world travel, spending two years in Rome. He also enjoyed golfing, cooking and especially spending time with family.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-five years, Barbara Moore; daughter, Leisa Moore Sossamon and husband, Jonathan Jr. of Charlotte; son, Phil Moore and wife, Holly of Marietta, GA; five grandchildren, Jami Lynn Lloyd, Patrick Ryan Moore, Travis Lincoln Lloyd, Emily Stewart Moore and Kathryn Elizabeth Moore.
Funeral services will be conducted at two o'clock on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend David Hawkins officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
