Ronnie Hopper, age 68, of Harris, passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Columbus. Ronnie was born Saturday, February 20, 1953 in Rutherford County to the late Britt Hopper and Zula Rollins Hopper. He was a graduate of Chase High School, class of 1971. Ronnie worked as a diesel mechanic for Overnite Transportation/UPS for thirty years before retirement. He was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church where he was a part of the Hopper Family Singing group. He enjoyed collecting antiques, fishing, camping and travelling to new places. He was a dedicated husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his late wife, Jean Frashier Hopper.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Peggy McCrary Hopper; two daughters, Pam Pogue (Craig) of Harris and Amy Miller (Chad) of Inman, SC; son, Chris Hopper (Sarah) of Harris; two brothers, Stanley Hopper (Linda) of Forest City and Doug Hopper (Nancy) of Rutherfordton. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Jessica Pogue and Cody Miller.
The funeral service will be conducted at 6:00 pm on Monday, September 13, 2021 at Holly Springs Baptist Church with Reverend Scott Moneyham officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the graveside. The body will lie in state a half hour before service time at the church.
