Rosie C. White, age 85, of Forest City, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 29, 2019 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Rosie was born December 23, 1933 in Rutherford County to the late Lloyd and Elizabeth Baynard Cannon. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. Rosie was a remarkable cook and took great joy in preparing meals for her family. She also enjoyed gardening, painting and shopping.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, Gene White Sr.; three brothers, Russell, Ralph and Clarence Cannon; four sisters, Bertie Pearson, Beatrice Pace, Vestie Gentry and Ruby Greene.
Left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Donna Dimsdale of Forest City, Libby Cole (Tony Sturgill) of Forest City and Paula White of the home; two sons, Gene White Jr, of Forest City and Rex Towery (Virginia) of Rutherfordton; two sisters, Marie Phillips and Helen Byers (Garland). She is also survived by six grandchildren, Justin Cole, Brandie Cole, Andrew Dimsdale (Hannah Lawter), Haley Davis (Jamie), Jeannie Starnes (David) and Jeff Towery (Kristina); six great-grandchildren, Kalil McDowell, Cody McIntyre, Clint McIntyre (Caden), Haley Jarrell (Matthew), Brett Towery and Ben Towery; extended family members, Mike and Nancy Connor, Amy Arrowood and Mike Cole.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at the Caroleen United Methodist Church with Reverend Rodger Hall and Reverend Norma Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in Eternal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
