Roy Baynard

Roy Lee Baynard, age 78, of South Mountain Road, Bostic, NC, died Friday, April 19, 2013 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.
Roy was born June 27, 1934 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Ed Baynard and Zula Smith Baynard. He worked for Broyhill Furniture for 30 years before his retirement and in construction for Piedmont Mechanical. He was a member of Cherry Mountain Baptist Church where he faithfully served as a deacon and on the building and grounds committee. He enjoyed cutting grass, hunting, fishing, gardening and ATV trail riding, but most of all he loved being with his family and his church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Betty Hutchins Baynard; two daughters, Angie Laughter of Spindale, Peggy Bradley and husband, Donnie of Bostic; two sons, Alan Baynard and wife, Darlene of Golden Valley and Bruce Baynard and fiancé, Myrtle Freeman also of Bostic; three sisters, Jessie Bowen of Sandy Mush, Evelyn Hudson and Sarah Morgan and husband, Jerry all of Bostic. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and eleven great granchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 22, 2013 at the Cherry Mountain Baptist Church with Reverend Danny Black and Reverend Leroy Bridges officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at the church.
