Roy Childers

Roy Childers, age 85, of 5337 US Highway 221, Forest City, NC died Monday,October 20, 2008 at the Mission Hospitals in Asheville.
A native of Chester County, South Carolina he was a son of the late Wade Jeffries and Katie Martin Childers. He was a US Army Veteran who served his country during World War II in the Philippines. He was the owner and operator of Childers' Truck Stop for more than 23 years. He loved his family, playing checkers and gardening.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters and his wife Karen Owens.
He is survived by his three sons, Jeffrey Childers and his wife Tammy, Darin Childers and his wife Dawn, and Todd Childers all of Forest City; two sons from a previous marriage, Jerry Childers and Ronnie Childers both of Spartanburg, South Carolina. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; Slade Childers, Amber Childers, Lacie Childers, Thomas Roy Childers, Cayla Childers, David Childers, Victoria Childers, and David James Childers.
