Ruby Harris Bright, age 90, of Forest City, NC, died Friday, January 7, 2011 at Autumn Care.
Ruby was born on February 3, 1920 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Andrew Jackson Harris and Anna Rhodes Harris. She was a longtime member of Bethany Baptist Church and was the Rutherfordton Regional Director of Meals on Wheels for many years. She also worked in textiles and worked as a nutritionist for the elderly. She enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, cake decorating and was known for making delicious pastries.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, James Crawford Bright; one daughter, Sandra Kaye Champion; three brothers, Otto Harris, Earl Harris, Burl Harris and one sister, Ellen Lowery.
Survivors include five sons, James I. Bright and his wife, Ruby of Rutherfordton, Joe William Bright and wife, Margaret of Forest City, Donald Wayne Bright and wife, Florence of Bostic, Van Douglas Bright and wife, Janice of Forest City and Michael Andrew Bright also of Forest City; two sisters, Cumi West of Charlotte and Bernice Arrowood of Caroleen. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
