Ruth Tyler

Ruth Vess Tyler, age 80, of Shelby, NC, died Saturday, December 18, 2010 at the Cleveland Pines Nursing Center.
Ruth was born on August 9, 1930 in Cherokee County, SC to the late Roy Vess and Alice Blanton Vess. She was a homemaker and enjoyed ministering as a church pianist.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Fred S. Tyler; one brother, Troy Vess, one sister, Zella Gordon and an infant daughter.
Survivors include her two daughters, Freda Hall and husband, Ted of Belmont, NC and Deborah Whitaker of Greenville, SC; one sister, Lydia Greene of Charlotte; three grandchildren, Allison Chriscoe, Jeremy Hall, Michael Whitaker and one great grandson, Chase Chriscoe. She is also survived by a special niece whom she raised as a baby sister, Carolyn Hooper of Ellenboro; a special caregiver and best friend, Shannon Cunningham of Shelby and by several nieces and nephews.
