Sally Ann Lamendola, age 79, of Rutherfordton, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at the Carolina House.
Born August 4, 1935 in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late William Greenwood and Pearl Gallagher Greenwood. Sally worked for the Broward County Sherriff's Department as a trainer for many years and as an accountant for Norwegian Cruise Lines. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church and enjoyed knitting, craftwork, drawing, reading and especially loved talking about her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Lamendola and one son, Joseph W. Lamendola.
Survivors include two daughters, Jann Lamendola of Plano, Texas and Dawn Gentry and husband, Michael of Rutherfordton; one son, Dane Lamendola and wife, Debbie of Hamburg, New Jersey; twelve grandchildren, Christina Astorino, Marie Willcoxon, Anne Moran, Tove Kemp, Jennifer Lamendola, Roxanne Lamendola, Trine Fjordholm, Dane Lamendola II, Tristin Gentry, Luke Gentry, Marysa Gentry, Leland Gentry and five great-grandchildren, Brayden Astorino, Bennett Astorino, Laurel Willcoxon, Easton Willcoxon and Bennett Willcoxon.
The family would like to thank each staff member of the Carolina House for their loving and compassionate care. Sally always referred to them as "Her Girls".

A Funeral Mass will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church with Reverend Father Herbert Burke and Reverend Deacon Andy Cilone officiating. Immediately following the services, there will be a gathering of family and friends in the Magnolia Parlor at the Carolina House, 493 Piney Ridge Road, Forest City, NC 28043.
