Scott Jenkins, age 78, of Rutherfordton, NC, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at The Waterford at Dillon Pointe in Spartanburg.
Scott was born June 14, 1940 in Rutherford County to the late V.L. Jenkins and Faye Stroupe Jenkins. He was a graduate of Harris High School, class of 1958 and earned a bachelor's degree from North Carolina State University in 1962. Scott worked for Weyerhaeuser Company for thirty-five years where he held the position of vice-president. He was a longtime member of Floyd's Creek Baptist Church and served faithfully as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. Scott additionally served in various leadership positions for the local Boy Scout Troop. He also had the distinction of being the Director of the Rutherford County Economic Development Commission. Scott was community minded and above all a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Ann Jenkins; brother, Hubert L. Jenkins and son-in-law, Mark Hudspeth.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of thirty-years, Glenda G. Jenkins; daughters, Pamela Jenkins Hudspeth of Boiling Springs, SC and Wanda Jenkins Toler of Rutherfordton; granddaughters, Melinda Sullins (Mitchell) of Greer, SC and Shelby Hudspeth of Orlando, FL; brother, Mickey Jenkins (Jeanne) of Rutherfordton; sister-in-law, Carolyn Jenkins of Chesnee, SC; niece, Amy Trubey (Michael) and nephews, Dan Jenkins (Donna) and Keith Jenkins.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 22, 2019 at Floyd's Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Shane Kirby, Reverend Robert Carnell, Reverend Clemmy Queen and Reverend Ad Hopper officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
