Shirley Buchanan

Shirley Ann Buchanan, age 81, of Forest City, NC died Saturday, June 1, 2019 at the White Oak Manor in Rutherfordton.
Shirley was born March 26, 1938 in Bakersville, NC to the late Floyd J. Buchanan and Darrell Hughes Buchanan. She was a graduate of Harris High School and worked in textiles most of her life. She loved to read and enjoyed going on "nature walks."
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant twin brother, Gerald Buchanan; four brothers, Cephas Buchanan, Dr. Fate Buchanan, Emory Buchanan and Floyd Buchanan and a sister, Charlotte Lowery.
Those left to treasure her memory include one sister, Nell Toney of Bostic and brother, Denver Buchanan and wife, Anita of Forest City. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ernie Cole officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
