Shirley Kennedy Wheeler

Shirley Kennedy Wheeler, age 89, of Caroleen, passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at Fairhaven Home in Forest City.

Shirley was born Sunday, April 28, 1935 in Rutherford County to the late Thurman Kennedy and Lula Mae Henson Kennedy. She worked for Stonecutter Mill for many years until retirement. Shirley enjoyed tending to her flowers and going on shopping trips to Hamrick’s. She was a member of the Alexander United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty-nine years, Charles Wheeler; sisters, Betty Ledbetter and Hazel Hardin; brother, Max Kennedy and a grandson, Anthony Trotter.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Sheila Trotter; son, Mark Wheeler (Donna) all of Forest City; five grandchildren, Scott, Dawn, Tonya, Andrea and Andrew; seven great-grandchildren, Devin, Selena, Journey, Aiden, Brayden, Adrien, Lydia and a great-great grandchild, Charlie.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 4th at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Keith Biggerstaff officiating. Interment will follow at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.

The family wishes to thank her granddaughter, Dawn Trotter, for being a caring and compassionate caregiver.
