Shirley Scruggs

Shirley Kimbrell Scruggs, 91, formerly of the Goodes Creek Community in Mooresboro, NC passed away Saturday, March 31, 2007 in Smithfield, VA. She was born on August 17, 195 in Cherokee County, SC to the late James Samuel Gettys Kimbrell and Lilly Gilbert Kimbrell. She had moved to Smithfield, VA to be near her son approx five years ago. She was a long time member of Goodes Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed caring and doing for others. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy R. Scruggs in 1985.

Mrs. Scruggs is survived by her son Mel Scruggs and wife Kathleen of Suffolk, VA; a sister Ruby Blackwell of Henrietta, NC; three grandchildren, Debbie Tallon and husband Tom of Reno, NV, Kim Graham and husband Gary of Yorktown, VA, and Matthew Scruggs of Newport News, VA. She is also survived by a great-granddaughter, Ashley Graham.
