Shirley Patterson Leverette

Shirley Patterson Leverette, age 74, of Rutherfordton, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Atrium Health-Cleveland in Shelby.

Shirley was born Sunday, October 13, 1946 in Rutherford County to the late Hughes Ernest Patterson and Frances Fowler Patterson. She was a graduate of R-S Central High School and worked in textiles most of her life. Shirley was a longtime member of Spindale Fellowship Holiness Church and enjoyed crafting and coloring.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of twenty-seven years, Tommy Leverette and two brothers, Ernest Patterson, Sr. and Raymond Patterson.

Those left to cherish her memory include daughters, Donna Gaines (Scott) of Forest City and Lori Toms of South Carolina; son, John McKinney of Rutherfordton; six sisters, Betty Crowder (Earl), Nellie Taylor, Margaret Mode (Steve), Carolyn Yarborough (Bookter), Ernestine Bradley and Connie Henderson; three brothers, Howard Patterson (Hazel), Bo Patterson (Martha) and Ronnie Patterson (Renee). She is also survived by five grandchildren, Jessica Bradley (Adam), Jamilah Toms (Brian), D.J. Toms, Jason Gaines, Greg Toms and ten great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Spindale Fellowship Holiness with Reverend Chad Sisk officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
