Steve Austin Greene

Mr. Greene, 73, of Forest City, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, August 10, 2006 at Hospice House in Forest City, NC following a long bout with C.O.P.D. He was born November 14, 1932 in Henrietta, NC and was the son of the late Paul S. and Ronalda O. Greene.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Iris F. Greene; son, Michael E. & Dianne S. Greene of Greenville, SC, and their children, Heather M. Greene, David J. Greene, Harvest L. and Erik Sadowski, Yarrow L. Lavoie, I. Virginia Greene and Nathanael A. Greene; son Kenneth A. & Jackie W. Greene of Concord, NC, and their daughter Jenna D. Greene; son Paul R. & Sue B. Greene of Matthews, NC; and their children Benjamin T. Greene and Melissa E. Greene; and daughter Teresa G. & Ray A. Stacy of Forest City, NC and their daughter Julia S. Wesley Johnson and great-grandchildren John W. Sadowski, Benjamin S. Sadowski, Hannah E. LaVoie, and Hailey M. LaVoie. He was predeceased by grandchildren Vincent A. Turner, Aaron Greene, and Michael Greene.

Mr. Greene was a graduate of Warwick High School in Newport News, Va. and of the N.A.S.A. apprentice school at Langley Field, Va., specializing in modeling, design and testing. He was also an employee of the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company in the mold loft and steel fabrication department and retired from McArthur?s Iron works and Steel Fabrication in Forest City, N.C.

Mr. Greene was a former member of Riverside Baptist Church, then Morrison Methodist in Newport News, Va. and later a member of Race Path Baptist and most recently Liberty Baptist Church, both in Rutherford County, N.C. He was active in children, youth, and bus ministries throughout his life.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Bill Casp and his staff, Hospice House and the members of Liberty Baptist Church for the abundant compassion and extreme kindness they have shown during this difficult time.
