Steve Hedden, age 74, of Forest City, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 25, 2019 at his residence.
Steve was born April 30, 1944 in Buncombe County, NC to the late Ray Hedden and Irene O'Riley. Steve served honorably in the U.S. Army. He later worked in management for Fiber Industries for twenty years and worked for Ingles, Bi-Lo and as an assistant manager at Save-A-Lot grocery stores for fifteen years. Steve was a faithful member of Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and on the grounds committee. He loved bear hunting in the upper peninsula of Michigan, fishing and golfing. Steve also enjoyed reading and was mentioned for reading the entire Bible through six times.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Vickie Hedden.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Sandy Hedden; two sons, Tony Hedden (Angie) of Forest City and Kevin Hedden of Mooresboro; brother, Larry O'Riley of Waynesville, NC and sister, Jeannie Parton (Ron) also of Waynesville; two grandchildren, Brandon Hedden (Melissa) of Forest City and Kimberly Hedden of Mooresboro; two great-grandchildren, Hunter Hedden and Emma Hedden.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 28, 2019 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Billy Poe Jones, Reverend Robert Harris and Reverend Phillip Wyatt officiating. Interment will follow in Cool Springs Cemetery with military honors being accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
