Steve L. Walker, age 59, of Ellenboro, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at his residence.
Born January 19, 1957 in Rutherford County, he was a son to the late Harold Gene Walker and Nancy Kennedy Walker who resides in Ellenboro. He was a graduate of East Rutherford High School, class of 1975. Steve owned and operated Walker's Mobile Home Movers and co-owned and operated S & L Management and Maintenance for over thirty years. He was of the Baptist faith and was an avid racing enthusiast. He was the owner and driver of the Walker Racing Team, car #38. Steve was a dedicated member of the Boiling Springs, NC, Friendship Masonic Lodge #0388. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Maurice Fowler.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Walker; three sons, Derick Walker and wife, Lisa of Earl, NC, Patrick Walker also of Earl and Chris Bridges and wife, Courtney of Nashville, TN; two sisters, Teresa Philbeck and husband, Tommy of Bostic and Sherry Fowler of Green Hill. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Isabella, Garrett and Easton Walker.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 13, 2016 with Reverend James Jennings officiating with Masonic rites being accorded by the members of Lodge #0388. Interment will follow in the Hopewell Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
