Swannie Thompson Hill, age 68, of Forest City, NC, died Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at the Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Born February 17, 1946 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late R.A. Thompson and Mary (Mae) Ezell Thompson. She was a graduate of Chase High School, class of 1965 and worked in textiles most of her life. Swannie was a faithful member of Forest City Four Square Church and enjoyed flower gardening and loved spending time with people.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, David Thompson; sister, Kay Thompson Harris and two nephews, Michael Thompson and Bo Thompson.
Survivors include her son, Randy Lee Wilson of Rutherfordton; three sisters, Lib Hopper and husband, Jim of Rutherfordton and twin sisters, Minnie McCraw and husband, Bob of Spartanburg and Madgie Cooper and husband, Bud of Gaffney; two brothers, Harold Thompson and wife, Sharon of Rutherfordton and Cecil Thompson and wife, Trina of Gaffney; granddaughter, Ashley Hollandsworth and two great-grandchildren, Noah Hollandsworth and Austin Simpson. She is also survived by three nephews, Eric Turner, Todd McCraw, Charles Thompson; four nieces, Pam Boone, Laura Bolick, Melissa Moss, Sydney Wilson and a host of friends at the Harmony Hills Retirement Village.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 5, 2014 at the Forest City Foursquare Church with Reverend Ricky Poteat officiating. Interment will follow in Broad River Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
