Terance Powers

Terance M. "Terry" "Uncle Mike" Powers, age 78, of Rutherfordton, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at his residence.
Born February 1, 1939 in New Haven County, Connecticut, he was a son to the late Michael Powers and Theresa Bohan Powers. Terry had a gift of humor. He had the ability to make people laugh and forget their troubles. He loved his family so much and his dogs were like his kids. He was extremely proud of his Irish heritage and worshiped the Lord by going outside and looking up to Heaven. He was a United States Marine veteran and served during Vietnam.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by fourteen siblings.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of twenty-two years, Bertille Blake Powers; three daughters, Michele Sorrensen, Paula Lupole, Shannon Powers; one son, George Blake; one brother, Chris Powers; and one sister, Anne Farren. He is also survived by four grandchildren; four nieces; one nephew; and his furbabies.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 9, 2017 at Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ernie Cole officiating. Military honors will be provided by Rutherford County Honor Guard. Interment will be private and at a later date.
