Terrill “Junior” Parton, age 86, of Forest City, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
Junior was born Monday, October 1, 1934 in Rutherford County to the late Terrill Fred Parton, Sr. and Cordie Head Parton. He was in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and retired after twenty-eight years of service to his country. Junior was also active in the North Carolina Air National Guard and a member of the VFW. He also worked for Great Lakes Carbon in Morganton and owned the Mini-Storage Plus on Withrow Road.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Amy Parton Berry; son-in-law, Allen Wayne Parton and daughter-in-law, Susan Baynard Parton.
Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Avis Short Parton and Linc Parton McDaniel (Robert) all of Rutherfordton and a son, Lane Parton of Waynesville, NC; sister, Aileen “Tootsie” Parton Conyers of Forest City. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mr. Parton’s ashes will be buried with honors at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain.
