Vance E. Norville, age 77, of Cliffside, died Saturday, December 12, 2015 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Born April 9, 1938 in Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Robert Herman Norville and Grace Wilson Norville. He was a graduate of Cliffside High School, class of 1956 and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Vance worked for Cone Mills-Cliffside Plant for forty-five years before retirement. He was a member of Cliffside Baptist Church and enjoyed watching Carolina Panthers football and NASCAR, going to the beach and doing craftwork.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Broadus Norville; two sisters, Evelyn Tate and Gail Hogan.
Survivors include his loving wife of forty years, Betty Barnes Norville; three sisters, Naomi Norville and Osteen Sanders both of Cliffside and Mavis Turner of Florence, SC; two brothers, George Norville and wife, Hilda of Shelby and Gene Oscar Norville and wife, Margaret of Rock Hill, NC. He is also survived by one aunt, Joyce Norman of Cliffside.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at the Cliffside Baptist Church with Reverend Larry Fleming officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
