Velvia Branch Coffey, age 86, of Rollins Road, Forest City, NC, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017 in the presence of her loving family.
Born December 18, 1930 in Gaston County, NC, she was a daughter to the late Henry Branch and Allie Ollie Greene Branch. She worked as a sewing machine operator for nineteen years for Absorba and Bon Worth Clothing for over nineteen years. Velvia was a member of Sisk Memorial Missionary Methodist Church and enjoyed flower gardening, crocheting and knitting. She especially loved reading her Bible and singing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, David Wayne Coffey; one brother, Leonard Branch and three sisters, Jenette Ball, Kathleen Justice and Georgie Faye Green.
Those left to cherish her memory include daughter, Katherine White and husband, Brian of Forest City; four sons, Allen Coffey and wife, Creola, Lewis Coffey and wife, Lillian and Joe Coffey all of Forest City and Teddy Coffey and wife, Lisa of Bostic; two brothers, Fred Branch and wife, June of Knoxville, TN and Clay Branch and wife, Opal of Sevierville, TN; four sisters, Arminda Smelcer of Knoxville, Irene Owens and husband, Charlie, Lucille Parton and Nancy Whaley and husband, Glenn all of Sevierville, TN. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be conducted at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery with Reverend Rodger Hall officiating. Her family will honorably serve as pallbearers.
