Vernon Harrill

Vernon Harrill, age 91, of Forest City, NC passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2021 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.  He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Newton of Forest City, NC; son, Jim Harrill and wife, Emily, of Mason, Ohio; three grandchildren, Michelle Morgan of Fletcher, NC, Jennifer Moore and husband, Nick, of Greensboro, NC and Chris Harrill of Philadelphia, PA; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-two years, Joyce Crawley Harrill; his parents William Vance Harrill and Flora Jane McDaniel Harrill; five sisters, three brothers and special friend Eula Childers.  He will be dearly missed.

Vernon worked forty-seven years for Burlington Industries.  Throughout his life, and especially in retirement, he enjoyed traveling, woodworking, country music, Major League Baseball (especially the Atlanta Braves), and Tarheel basketball.

At the family’s request, a socially distanced funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Friday, May 14, 2021 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ernie Cole officiating.  Interment will follow at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends in a socially distanced manner one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
