Warren Jennings Walker, age 72, of Forest City, NC, died Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Born March 8, 1941 in Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Grady Webb Walker and Cordie Davis Walker. He was a veteran of the US Army and worked for PPG Industries for forty years before his retirement. He was a member of Earl Baptist Church and attended Bethel Baptist Church. He enjoyed dancing and was a member of several Shag Associations. Warren was also an avid fly fisherman and hunter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Fisher and Dorthy Sanders and brother, Jack Walker.
Survivors include his fiancé and life companion, Cheryll Fava of Greenville, SC; four daughters, Angela Osteen and husband, Joe, Lorie Brackett and husband, Gene all of Forest City, Gloria Walker and Christal Bagley and husband, Kenneth all of Shelby, NC; son, Anthony Walker of Forest City; three sisters, Sue Jenkins and husband, Bobby of Ellenboro, Aloyse Jones and husband, Oscar of Bostic and Leila Absher of Chesnee, SC; three brothers, Walter Walker of Bostic, Jerry Walker and wife, Marci of Forest City and Grady Walker and wife, Betty of Shelby. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a god child, Chris Bridges.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at the Bethel Baptist Church of Ellenboro with Reverend Phillip Park and Reverend Michael Sepaugh officiating. The body will lie in state one hour before service time at the church. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
