Wayne Curtis, age 65, of Church Street, Ellenboro, died Friday, April 8, 2016 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Born January 4, 1951 in Rutherford County, he was a son to the late Charles Marion Curtis and Maude Lucille Harris Curtis. He was a graduate of Crest High School, class of 1970 and worked for PPG Industries for over twenty-five years. He also worked for Rutherford County Public Schools for several years. Wayne was a longtime member of Campfield Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and trustee. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, camping and was a "self-taught" mechanic.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of forty-one years, Jackie Curtis.
Survivors include two daughters, Leah Greene and husband, Brian and Julie Thorn and husband, Steve all of Ellenboro; one sister, Carolyn Curtis of Ellenboro and brother, Dale Curtis and wife, Sherri of Forest City. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Drew Greene, Emma Greene, Jackson Thorn, Bethany Thorn, Patrick Thorn and wife, Blythe and one great-grandson, Auron Thorn.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, April 11, 2016 at Campfield Memorial Baptist Church with Reverend Scott Huffman officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
