Wilbur Hoyle Epley, age 76, of Shiloh Community, died Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Hospice House.
Wilbur was born September 13, 1935 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Joe Epley and Mamie Skipper Epley. He was a graduate of Harris High School, class of 1953 and served in the National Guard for many years. He owned and operated the Shiloh Barber Shop for 51 years. He was a longtime member of Shiloh Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday School teacher. He enjoyed gardening and especially loved to travel with his family. They had traveled to 49 states and their international travels took them to anywhere between Australia and Paris, France. He loved his family dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters, Sadie Epley, Aden Epley, Lorene Hutchins, Pauline Randall and Winfred Harrill.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Jo Anne Lane Epley; one son, Eric Wilbur Epley and wife, Lisa of Columbus, NC; one daughter, Kimberly Lynn Epley of Spartanburg, SC and a number of nieces and nephews.
