William Bennett

William 'J.E.' Bennett, age 73, of Forest City, NC, died Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.
J.E. was born March 12, 1939 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Conway Bennett and Bertha Norville Bennett. He worked in textiles for many years and was known as a 'Master' carpenter. He was a member of Alexander Missionary Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening, bluegrass music, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of almost 52 years, Jackie Smith Bennett; two sons, William 'Matthew' Bennett, Sr. of Forest City and Mark Ansel Bennett and wife, Lesley of Mooresboro; one daughter, Sherry Bennett Gilliam of Forest City; six brothers, Calvin Bennett, Bruce Bennett and wife, Linda, Teddy Bennett, Timmy Bennett, David Bennett, Scott Bennett and wife, Starla all of Ellenboro; three sisters, Nan Tesseniar and husband, Arnold of Bostic, Diane Bennick and husband, Ted of Shingle Hollow and Patsy Boone and husband, Rev. Ronnie Boone of Mooresboro. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, William 'Matthew' Bennett, Jr. and wife, Alisha, Misti Bennett Willis and husband, Matt, Autumn Bennett, John Gilliam, Jessie Gilliam, Jacob Bennett and wife, Kayela, Taylor Bennett; five great-grandchildren, Ryan Bennett, Caleb Bennett, Jason Willis , Jenna Willis and Shane Gilliam.
A graveside service will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2012 in Eternal Hills Cemetery with Reverend Howard Hardin and Reverend Michael Ruff officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. on the day of the service at the funeral home.
