William "Bill" Bennick, 77, of Mooresboro, passed away on Monday, March 26, 2007 at the VA Medical Center in Asheville. Mr. Bennick was born on October 21, 1929 in Rutherford County to the late Newell Bennick and Carrie Rhodes Bennick. Mr. Bennick grew up in the Cliffside area attending Tri-High School. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U. S. Air Force. He later worked as a heavy equipment operator for the North Carolina State Highway Department. He was an active member of the Haynes Memorial Baptist Church having served on several committees. He was also member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. His hobbies included automobile racing and wood working. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Bennick and by one sister Connie Vassey.
Mr. Bennick is survived by his wife Janice of the home; a son Tommy Bennick and wife Cathy of Forest City; a daughter, Angie Vinesett and husband Scott of Shelby, NC; a sister, Lillie Rhodes of Bostic, NC. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Dusty Splawn, Heather Mode, Chris Bennick, and Tyler Bennick, and six great-grandchildren, Jordan Mode Ashlyn Mode, Emily Splawn, Sierra Foster, Jasmine Bennick and Drake Bennick.
